ISES Indiana & Urban Acres Luncheon
Join us for this fun and informative lunch! Learn more about the extraordinary local “Farm to Table” initiative right here in Indianapolis.
Speaker: Tyler Gough, Farm Manager, Indy Urban Acres
Gough oversees the planning and operation of all aspects of the eight-acre organic farm dedicated to ensuring that families in need have access to healthy foods. Tyler is the President of the not-for-profit Narrow Gate Gardens, Inc., whose mission is to create and help sustain community gardens to support food pantries and previously founded the Pendleton Community Garden. A Purdue Master Gardener, Tyler continues to support the idea that each member of our community should be able to attain proper nutrition for themselves and their families, and to have access to the educational tools necessary to provide for themselves.
ISES Indiana special project: this year ISES Indiana has chosen to partner with Indy Urban Acres whose mission is to provide fresh, healthy, food to the city’s neediest citizens through local food banks. Attendees will learn from Tyler Gough, farm manager at IUA, how they engage the community, inspire volunteers, educate students and train teens, all while feeding low income residents of Indianapolis. Our goal is to assist them in building awareness and raise funds, while enjoying a delicious lunch prepared by Crystal Catering based on foods grown at Indy Urban Acres.
How can you help? Show your support for Indy Urban Acres by adopting a chicken, a bee hive, fruit tree or become an urban farmer. Pluck a card from the Giving Tree with sponsorships starting as low as $1.00. Additionally, ISES will donate $5.00 from every May luncheon ticket purchased to help support Indy Urban Acres.
